Practise hazard perception

Look through the windscreen, see the hazard coming and choose: brake, ease off the accelerator or do nothing.

Since April 2025 the separate photo test is gone. Hazard perception is now part of the regular exam, including short animations without sound.

At TheorieZin you practise this with videos from the driver's seat. That way you train exactly what's asked on exam day.

Need to know

  • Brake: there's immediate danger and you need to slow down now.
  • Release the accelerator: danger may arise, so you give yourself more time.
  • Nothing: everything is clear and you're already driving at the right speed.
  • Watch for signals: a ball, a flashing light, a bus at the stop, children near a school.
  • Also check the speedometer and the distance to the vehicle in front.

This is how it appears in the exam. In the CBR exam you can watch an animation again. Use that if you're unsure, but keep an eye on your time.

Frequently asked questions

Does the separate hazard perception test still exist?

No. Since 7 April 2025 there is one exam of 50 questions. Hazard perception is part of it, including short animations.

When do you ease off the accelerator and when do you brake?

Brake if there's immediate danger you need to react to now. Ease off the accelerator if something might happen, so you have more time and space.

Do the animations have sound?

No. The animations in the exam are short and have no sound. So you have to see the hazard.
